(HOUSTON,TX)-On June 27, Bikini Competitor and Texas native, Sunni Ewing made history at the National Gym Association (NGA) South Texas Bodybuilding Championship. The event promoted by Mitchell Muscle Promotions, saw competitors from across the state bring their all as they flexed for the crowd and judges at the Stafford Civic Center.

Ewing made history as she became the first female competitor not to only win in her class category, the Bikini Open, but by also winning the overall event by beating out the male competition.

"The sport of body building has always been dominated by the male competitors and for me to win overall is really surreal." said Ewing after it was announced that she had won the overall competition.

When asked about the achievement Ewing answered "I'm honored and humbled by winning tonight. My team worked hard in preparing me for this and it's starting to sink in that I am a part of history."

With this victory Ewing was awarded her NGA Pro Bikini Athlete Card allowing her to now compete as a professional. "I'm just very happy to have won tonight. The hard work paid off and know it is on to the next phase of my career and more victories."
