Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) launches the Men with Momentum: Speed & Spirits
event in Houston on June 14, 2012 at Momentum Porsche-10155 Southwest Freeway. The Boys’ Night Out-themed event will focus on food and
entertainment that men love: swanky cocktails by Cinco Vodka, craft beer by
Saint Arnold’s Brewery, an authentic Cuban pig roast by Dos Cubanos, and an outdoor cigar lounge complete
with “Cigar Chick” Teresa Merchant providing suggested craft beer and
cigar pairings. Interactive entertainment elements provided by BilliardsFactory.com
and innovative musical performances will get the blood pumping while guests will be able to preview the
Porsche 911, Boxster, Cayenne and Panamera.
Momentum Porsche has partnered with AVDA for
the event to offer one lucky guest a “weekend with a Porsche” as a grand prize.
Chairing
this year’s event will be Mike Donovan, principal of HTS Texas. “Mike is a great fit for AVDA as his professional
and community leadership embodies what we look for in strong male role models”
says AVDA’s Executive Director, Jackie Pontello.
Men with Momentum was developed to enlist male community
and business leaders in
stepping forward as role models and
champions of non-violent relationships. Domestic
violence claims nearly 100 lives in the
Houston area each year; these deaths are
preventable with timely
intervention. Dollars raised from Men with Momentum will
underwrite counseling and legal services
to assist families in breaking the cycle of
domestic violence.

About AVDA: Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse is a private
non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization that has been serving families trapped in
the cycle of family violence since 1980. Only AVDA works to break this cycle by
intervening with both the victim and the abuser. AVDA operates two
direct-service programs unique to Harris County. The Legal Advocacy Program offers free legal representation for adults and children trapped
in abusive intimate-partner or family relationships while AVDA’s nationally
recognized Battering
Intervention and Prevention Program provides
specialized psycho-educational counseling which enables batterers to recognize,
accept responsibility for and end their abusive behavior. To learn more about AVDA, visit www.avda-tx.org
